Books and Podcasts
Below is a list of books that many of my international students may be able to read with 94% comprehension. To improve your reading and your writing, all research shows that you need to be reading books at the 94% comprehension level. This means that only 6 of every 100 words will be unfamiliar. You might have to look these words up, but the assumption is that if you know the other 94 words, these 6 words will often become clear from context. This level of comprehension will allow you to learn how words work and will increase your vocabulary. It also decreases your time in the dictionary, which only has limited usefulness when trying to improve your reading and writing.Outliers – by Malcolm Gladwell
Blink – by Malcolm Gladwell
Predictably Irrational – by Dan Ariely
The Upside of Irrationality – by Dan Ariely
